Assessing molecular profiles in sex-biased autoimmune traits
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
05/BIOS-14 - Genetics
Description
Autoimmune diseases (ADs) are complex disorders caused by the breakdown of self- tolerance, leading to immune responses against the body's own cells, with localized or systemic inflammation. Gender is a primary risk factor for ADs. Females are at higher risk compared to males, and are disproportionally affected. There is a positive association between the chromosome X dosage and the susceptibility to ADs. In this role, the Postdoc will (i) conduct maintenance of murine models of ADs, including genotyping; (ii) map and document relevant immune-related traits in female and male murine models of ADs; (iii) study relevant research literature of ADs, focusing on the biology of the X chromosome and its involvement in AD risk, and highlighting open research questions; (iv) perform isolation and purification of cells from murine models; (v) design and perform preliminary experiments for multi-omics profiling on mouse models.
