Description
The research program focuses on the development and validation of advanced metrics for the analysis and processing of 3D point clouds. The goal is to objectively describe the information distribution and geometric variations, with particular attention to entropy-based metrics, capable of overcoming the limitations of traditional Euclidean measures. The metrics will be applied to quality control through geometric deviation analysis and as guidance in registration procedures to improve consistency and accuracy. The resulting models can support reverse engineering, design, and geometric optimization. The program includes tests on objects of different nature, comparison with traditional metrics, the definition of replicable procedures, and the development of quantitative indices.
