Structure and reactivity in solution of C1 symmetric catalysts for olefin polymerization
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
03/CHEM-03 - General And Inorganic Chemistry
Description
The Post-Doc fellow will carry out the research activity as part of the “Quantitative Structure-Property Relationships for C1-Symmetric Catalysts for Olefin Copolymerization” (C1_QSPR) project (DPI), by investigating C1-symmetry molecular catalysts for olefin poly-merization on group IV organometallic complexes (Ti, Zr, Hf). Specifically, the researcher will synthesize and characterize catalytic ionic species resulting from the reaction of neutral precursors with appropriate aluminium and/or boron-based molecular cocatalysts. The synthesis of these highly reactive species, which are sensitive to the presence of water and oxygen, will be conducted using high vacuum Schlenk and Glove box techniques. Structural characterization will be mainly conducted in solution by NMR spectroscopy and will be complemented by both spectroscopic studies for understanding the dynamic processes operating in solution and reactivity studies of the active species towards olefins or chain transfer agents.
