11/HIST-03 - Contemporary History
Description
The AESTHIS project aims to analyse the role of landscapes, architecture, infrastructure, monumentsand works of art in the construction and representation of collective identities in Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol from 1915 to the present day. The main objective is to identify and study so-called ‘identity markers’, that is, those material and symbolic elements that help define affiliations, memories and historical narratives in a territory characterised by shifting borders, linguistic diversity and identity conflicts. Through an interdisciplinary approach integrating contemporary history, art history, heritage studies and border studies, the project aims to understand how these markers have been constructed, transformed and reinterpreted over time. Particular attention will be paid to processes of heritage designation, memory policies and the critical re-examination of the controversial legacies of the 20th century... (see call)
