The appointment entails the study of the aesthetics of amor-passio in twentieth- and twenty-first-century cultural objects that refer to the Petrarchan imaginary, with particular attention to its transmedial remediations. It examines the “language of love” as a discursive device and semiological construction shaped by regimes of visibility and invisibility, identity dynamics, text–image interplay, and transnational circulation. Activities will include the creation of a text–image corpus; the historical and cultural analysis of remediation strategies and of the “imaginaries of translation”; and the production of scholarly outputs as well as research materials for the project’s digital platform.
