Description
The position entails a preliminary study of the principal “translation traditions” of Petrarch’s poetry in the French language, from the early modern period to the twenty-first century, with particular attention to the analysis of contacts among Francophone, Anglophone, and Germanophone cultural spaces. The activities will include: co-supervision of a PhD Student; corpus construction; textual and socio-historical analysis of translation strategies and “translation imaginaries”; research outputs and materials for the project’s digital platform. The research will further extend the investigation to the contemporary period (twentieth and twenty-first centuries), examining the persistence, transformation, and medialization of the “language of love” across novels, poetry, autofiction, cinema, television series, songs, digital platforms, and video games, in dialogue with the sociology of communication, Cultural Studies, and methodologies in comparative translation studies.
