Description
These projects follow two approaches that will be further developed within Smart Cover Interfaces: (1) 3D smart textiles based on spatial knitting using “intelligent” yarns, enabling new forms of interaction, and (2) the deposition of precious metals onto existing layered textile substrates. The project adopts a holistic approach, covering design, sensor exploration, hardware and software development, and the prototypical implementation of functional systems. The technologist will support research activities using industrial knitting and sewing machines as well as advanced analysis tools (e.g., confocal microscopy) for characterization and quality control. The process spans from concept development to empirical validation and includes a flexible “Idea Space” for co-creation with academic and industry partners
