Ref. 5372, Ann. 2 - Development of new robotic platforms in uro-oncology with applications in telesurgery and teleproctoring

The project aims to evaluate the clinical implementation of next-generation robotic platforms in urological surgery, analyzing their technical performance, ergonomics, learning curve, and cost-effectiveness compared to the established standard. The study involves a prospective comparative evaluation of oncological outcomes (surgical margins, disease control) and functional outcomes (continence, sexual function, kidney preservation) in key procedures—radical prostatectomy, partial nephrectomy, radical cystectomy—along with an examination of the enabling potential of these systems, including remote teleoperation, telementoring, and the integration of intraoperative digital technologies. The project aims to position the University as a center of excellence for multiplatform validation, generating evidence of high scientific impact and promoting innovation, surgical training, and equitable access to care.
