The project is structured around three core research questions: 1. To what extent did Cold War dynamics shape the transboundary management of a river that transcended the continent's political divide? 2. To what extent did the Danube, through its hydrological dynamics, influence bilateral and international relations among the riparian states? 3. How have past dynamics continued to shape cooperation among Danubian countries up to the present day?
