DIT.AD018.207 - Testing and characterization of innovative fuels and technologies for the decarbonization of naval propulsion

The research program is aimed at the experimental assessment of low greenhouse gas (GHG) emission alternative fuels for marine applications and the development of technological solutions for their efficient use in internal combustion engines. The research activities will include experimental testing on a single-cylinder marine engine operating with methanol in dual-fuel and single-fuel modes, using both direct and indirect injection systems, as well as the characterization of alternative fuels, liquid and gaseous. The program also includes the development and optimization of engine components and fuel supply strategies to improve engine performance, combustion efficiency, and the reduction of pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions.
