Criminal Law Protection of the Agri-Food Sector and EU Constraints

The research programme develops a systematic framework on the criminal-law protection of the agri-food sector in light of EU constraints, integrating economic criminal law, environmental criminal law, EU food law and corporate liability. The activity comprises four phases: mapping European and national legal sources; analysis of CJEU, ECtHR and domestic case law on ne bis in idem and proportionality, including research stays at European centres; case studies on food fraud, agricultural environmental offences and fraud against CAP and PNRR funds; drafting of a monograph, scientific essays, a policy paper and operational guidelines on organisational models under Legislative Decree 231/2001 for the agri-food sector, in cooperation with control authorities and trade associations.
