CR 15-2026 IEOMI NA - MITCAN — MITotic Checkpoint and chromosomal instAbility in caNcer
The MITCAN project aims to develop anti-cancer drugs targeting the GRASP65–GM130 axis, a pathway crucial for the mitotic spindle and chromosomal stability. The work involves characterizing protein-protein interfaces and analyzing the druggability of binding sites using structural molecular modeling, while also handling incomplete experimental data. To identify modulating molecules, the project will employ virtual screening campaigns (both ligand- and structure-based), drug repurposing studies, pharmacophore modeling, and molecular dynamics simulations. The role entails integrating computational predictions with biological data from the Institute’s validation teams and utilizing bioinformatics tools. Additional responsibilities include KPI monitoring, scientific reporting, financial accounting, presenting results to partners and funding bodies, and providing methodological mentoring.
