During the activity, innovative processes based on environmentally, economically, and geographically sustainable approaches will be identified and developed for the production of the key components required for stem cell culture. For each target component, including both low-molecular-weight compounds (e.g., metabolites) and high-molecular-weight biomolecules (e.g., proteins), sustainable sourcing strategies will be established, with particular emphasis on the use of renewable feedstocks and waste biomass whenever possible. In parallel, production processes will be developed and optimized to minimize energy consumption, environmental impact, ethical concerns, and production costs, while ensuring the availability of high-quality components suitable for future large-scale manufacturing and industrial translation.
