Developing, Testing, and Engineering of Quantitative Models and Methods for Sustainable Operations and Logistics in the field of Food, Packaging, Agricultural, and Manufacturing Industries

The Research Assignment aims to develop, test, and engineer quantitative and optimization models and methods for the design, planning, and operational management of inter- and intra-plant operations and logistics in the following fields: food, packaging, manufacturing, and agriculture. This work will focus on applied research and technology transfer in industrial contexts. The goal of these models and methods is to implement and enhance decision support systems (DSS) that facilitate data-driven decision-making, reduce waste, minimize costs, and lower environmental impacts. This approach will improve system resilience while also reducing inefficiencies and externalities. Particular emphasis will be placed on managing material flows within complex industrial systems and networks encompassing multiple stages and various plants, as well as on circular systems and industrial symbiosis.
