Synthesis of Nanocarbon Based Organic Functional Materials

The research programme focuses on the chemical functionalization of carbon nanostructures through the introduction of suitably designed organic moieties, with the aim of advancing the understanding of the relationships between molecular structure, material properties and functional behaviour. The research seeks to develop new knowledge on the design of hybrid systems based on carbon nanostructures andpolymeric matrices or hydrogels, providing the scientific foundations for the development of advancedfunctional materials. While primarily devoted to fundamental research, the programme also considers the potential application of these materials in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine
