Investigation of metrological limitations in electrical bioimpedance measurements

This Research Fellowship is part of the European project Met4MED (Metrology for Medical Electrical Devices), funded by EURAMET and carried out in collaboration with the Italian National Institute of Metrological Research (INRiM). The research addresses metrological challenges in electrical bioimpedance measurements. The fellowship supports WP3 by developing and validating solutions for in vitro bioimpedance measurements, focusing on the non-destructive monitoring of biological processes relevant to tissue engineering, such as cell viability and tissue construct maturation. Activities include defining measurement requirements, optimizing experimental setups at the University of Bologna, developing a high-resolution Electrical Bio-Impedance (EBI) platform based on high-performance ADCs and ultra-low-noise analog front-end electronics, and evaluating its potential extension to Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT).
