Development of a robotic platform for the assembly and quality control of electrical panels.

The H2020 REMODEL project, coordinated by the University of Bologna, developed the technologyfor manipulating and sensing cables and assembling wire harnesses—the core components ofthis proposal. This project has a twofold objective: 1) to enhance the previous solution byincorporating visual inspection to guide the correction of unpredictable cable tangling that canoccur during production, thereby raising the success rate to a level suitable for industrialmanufacturing and enabling quality control of the final product; and 2) to implement a completeautomated production line, starting with the assembly of the connectors and cables used tocreate the wire harness, and including end-of-line (EOL) testing to verify the harness connections.
