Quality 5.0 in the AI era - 2026_IDR_DIG_78

The research programme aims to investigate the intersection of Quality Management, Physical AI, and advanced digital technologies, with particular emphasis on the transformation of processes and activities within the Quality function and their integration with operations systems, including those in the healthcare and medical sectors, which are characterised by stringent requirements for quality, reliability, and compliance. The increasing adoption of technologies such as advanced and humanoid robotics, AI, and digital solutions creates new opportunities to innovate quality control, quality assurance, and continuous improvement activities, while enhancing process quality, reliability, and efficiency. The research will focus on the development of methodologies, models, and frameworks to support organisations in identifying relevant use cases, selecting appropriate technologies and implementation approaches, and assessing their organisational and operational impacts.
