Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) are a conditionof significant interest for public health, as they derive from prenatal exposure to alcohol and are associated with adverse physical, cognitive, behavioral and social outcomes. Recent Italian guidelines underline that FASD is an irreversible condition and that total abstention from alcohol consumption during pregnancy is the only effective preventive measure, in the absence of decisive therapeutic protocols.
