Urban Memory and Active Citizenship: a model for the enhancement of Palermo's post-war sites through scientific comparison with the Chongqing case study

This research proposal stems from a critical observation conducted in the urban context of Palermo: the presence of numerous ruins and sites marked by the 1943 bombings is today perceived in a distorted way by the local community and by visitors. During an observation experience at the University Language Centre (CLA), it emerged that even long-term foreign residents interpret the architectural "wounds" of the historic center as signs of mere building neglect, ignoring their wartime origin.
