“The style and language of Vitaliano Trevisan: a path from the “Trilogia di Thomas” to “Black Tulips” ” - CUP C93C26003710005 - Scientific Supervisor and Tutor: Prof. Tobia Zanon
The project aims to investigate the prose of Vitaliano Trevisan (from the “Trilogia di Thomas” to “Black Tulips”) from a linguistic, stylistic, and textual perspective, thereby addressing a gap in systematic formalstudies on the author. The research is structured around four main axes: the redefinition of literary genres (autofiction, memoir, "non-novel"); syntactic analysis, stretched between textual compression anddigressive expansion; the examination of linguistic registers (standard Italian, Venetian dialect, profanity,Pidgin English); and the analysis of a textual architecture fragmented by essayistic inserts, dialogue, andfootnotes. Furthermore, the research will examine the engagement with models such as Bernhard andBeckett and the postures of the authorial self, ideally drawing upon manuscript materials held at the Archivio Scrittori Veneti of the University of Padua.
