Development and application of numerical models for the study of mesoscale and sub-mesoscale physical processes in the marginal seas of the Mediterranean

The research activity focuses on the development and application of numerical models for the study of physical processes in the marginal seas of the Mediterranean. The research is aimed at investigating ocean dynamics across different spatial and temporal scales, with specific focus on mesoscale and sub-mesoscale, both in reanalysis/hindcast and in operational mode (short-term forecasting). Research topics range from hydrodynamics in coastal areas to air-sea interactions, to deep-ocean circulation and upwelling/downwelling phenomena in deeper layers.
