Development and Scale-up of Manufacturing Processes for Large-Scale Ablative Components in Re-entry Heat Shields

The project will develop and optimize scalable manufacturing and infiltration processes for large-scale ablative components (also nanostructured and nanocomposite) designed for re-entry heat shields.Through the analysis of reaction kinetics and thermal process gradients, strategies will be established to mitigate internal defects and residual stresses in thick-section parts.The research will validate process reproducibility and the homogeneity of the material's thermostructural performance on a representative-scale demonstrator.
