Characterization and valorization of crop genetic and phenotypic diversity for sustainable agricultural systems.
The research programme aims to investigate, characterise and valorise the genetic and phenotypic diversity of plant materials of agricultural interest within the framework of the inSiEME and Root2Res projects. The activities will include the collection, organisation, analysis and integration of genetic, genomic, phenotypic and environmental data obtained from plant materials evaluated under field and/or controlled conditions. Particular attention will be given to the relationships between genetic variation, agronomically relevant traits and responses to different environments, with the aim of identifying plant materials, information and tools useful for selection and crop breeding. The results will contribute to the valorisation of crop biodiversity and the development of more resilient and sustainable agricultural systems.
