Comparative evaluation procedure for n. 1 post-doc research contract - Department of Cultural Heritage

Title of the project: Territory, Settlement, and Demography in the County of Modica (14th–16th Centuries): Enfeoffment Records and ‘Riveli'. The successful candidate’s research activity will focus on two closely interrelated themes: (1) drawing on evidence concerning the County of Modica under the lordships of the Chiaramonte (1296–1392) and Cabrera (1392–1481) families, they will examine records relating to the granting of lands within the county between the late 13th and late 15th centuries, with particular emphasis on historical topography, toponymy, and quantitative historical analysis; (2) the candidate will identify, catalogue, and systematically analyse all ‘Riveli’ (fiscal declarations) relating to Ragusa, Chiaramonte Gulfi, Giarratana, Monterosso Almo, Santa Croce Camerina, Modica, Scicli, and Vittoria during the 16th and 17th centuries.
