Evaluation of molecular profiles in autoimmune traits with a higher prevalence in females

Autoimmune diseases (ADs) are complex disorders caused by the breakdown of self-tolerance, leading to immune responses against the body's own cells, with localized or systemic inflammation. Gender is a primary risk factor for ADs. Females are at higher risk compared to males and are disproportionally affected. There is a positive association between chromosome X dosage and susceptibility to ADs. The Postdoc will: (i) design/optimize genotyping protocols for murine models of ADs; (ii) purify distinct immune cell classes; (iii) extract nucleic acids and proteins; (iv) study literature on the biology of the X chromosome and its involvement in ADs; (v) write a review and collaborate in current research papers in the lab; (vi) query biological/bioinformatic databases for pharmacological data on ADs.
