Integrated model for the identification and location of hidden leaks in water distribution networks - 2026_IPD_DEIB_8
The project proposes an innovative system for localizing water leaks in distribution networks by integrating fluid dynamics measurements (pressure, flow rate, and temperature). Through the use of advanced algorithms and hydraulic models, the cross-relation of these variables will enable the identification and localization of anomalies with extremely high precision. A crucial phase of the research will be dedicated to the proper management of data coming from different domains and to the optimization of sensor placement across the territory, utilizing artificial intelligence techniques to maximize the sensitivity of the monitoring network with the minimum possible number of nodes. This architecture will allow for real-time fault detection and the estimation of the extent of the damage as soon as it occurs. The ultimate goal is to drastically reduce the volume of water loss, minimizing installation costs and response times in the event of a failure.
