Integration of microbiological, molecular, and bioinformatic methodologies for the epidemiological and environmental monitoring of viral pathogens and antibiotic resistance in wastewater.

The research project aims to develop and implement microbiological and molecular methodologies, such as qPCR/dPCR and next-generation sequencing, and to integrate them with bioinformatic and biostatistical analyses to investigate emerging and re-emerging pathogens and antibio tic-resistant bacteria in wastewater. The project involves applying this experimental ap proach to specific case studies to obtain epidemiological information regarding the preva lence of pathogens and antibiotic resistance in the population, as well as to evaluate the potential environmental impact risk of treated wastewater.
