Photonics, Nanotechnologies and Advanced Sensing
The research may address one of the following themes: - the development of instrumentation for optical biosensing, including optical interrogation systems, dedicated microfluidic devices and advanced methods for the analysis of spectroscopic data;- the characterization of photonic devices and nanostructures for controlling light-matter interaction, through optical and spectroscopic measurements, electromagnetic modelling of linear and nonlinear responses, and the development of advanced materials;- the multiscale and multimodal characterization of nanostructured materials, including multispectral imaging and terahertz spectroscopy, with the use of machine learning, deep learning and neural networks for physical modelling and atomistic simulations;- the development of high-sensitivity experimental instrumentation for low-temperature physics, aimed at the study of quantum technologies and the physical properties of materials.
