Research in the field of safety and reliability of critical systems and plants such as those of the nuclear and oil sectors, and infrastructures - 2026_IPD_DENG_8

Studies and research will focus on methods and models for risk, reliability and maintenance, risk and resilience analyses of critical systems such as nuclear, oil & gas, and general energy infrastructures, as well as critical infrastructure. Opportunities and possibilities for integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques will be considered to support the modeling of aging and degradation effects on component failure processes, as well as the impacts of climate change and associated extreme weather events of increasing intensity and frequency. The methodologies will necessarily involve dynamic analysis to support sequential design and maintenance decisions. Furthermore, the appointee will be involved in teaching activities within courses delivered by the LASAR3 group in Master of Science and continuing education programs, with a particular focus on the application of AI in Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety analysis.
