SLAVIC STUDIES
the successful candidate will be required to focus in particular on the study of the Italian translations of works by nineteenth-century Russian writers, combining translation analysis with the theoretical and methodological approach of imagology studies. The investigation will focus on representations of distinctive aspects of Russian culture that emerge in the translated texts, either explicitly or implicitly, assessing the extent to which they result from interpretative strategies, ideological filters, or editorial mediation, or whether they convey an accurate image consistent with the historical, cultural, and linguistic context in which the original works were produced. In order to trace the evolution of these representations, a corpus of selected translations will be compiled and organized according to a chronological criterion, allowing for a diachronic analysis of the role played by translation in the construction of intercultural imagery
