PROMOTING THE SUSTAINABILITY OF FOOD SYSTEMS. Rethinking the Territorial Dimensions of Food in Light of the Challenges of Justice, Sustainability, Cultural Identity, and Local Development
The project aims to develop models for food policy through a critical re-examination of the relationships between food and space (i.e., territory), with particular attention to urban, local, and global scales. It considers sustainability as a property of food systems that integrates social, economic, environmental, and governance dimensions.The objective is to contribute to the development of new food policies capable of addressing, in an integrated manner, the main challenges facing contemporary society and, consequently, contemporary food systems. These include food security and access to food; food justice and democracy; health understood in terms of well-being and safety; environmental impacts and climate change; relationships between production and consumption across product supply chains; food waste; as well as the identity, cultural, and social dimensions of food
