EVALUATION OF THE ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF ESSENTIAL OILS AGAINST ENVIRONMENTAL PATHOGENS: INDUCED RESPONSE, CONCENTRATIONS AND CONTACT TIMES FOR INFECTION RISK CONTROL
Based on the preliminary data collected by the research team, the MIC (Minimum Inhibitory Concentration) and MBC (Minimum Bactericidal Concentration) values obtained in the initial phase of the study will be confirmed. Subsequently, tests to assess disinfectant efficacy will be carried out in accordance with the UNI EN 14885 standard, in order to characterize the antimicrobial activity of the selected compounds. The results will enable the identification of molecules, used individually or in combination, capable of exerting effective bacteriostatic and/or bactericidal activity against the target microorganisms. The most promising formulations will be further optimized to facilitate technology transfer and subsequent industrial exploitation. The project may also generate new results eligible for intellectual property protection, through the filing of patents relating to the identified compounds and/or their innovative formulations
