Italian–Spanish Bilingual Onomasiological Lexicography from the Seventeenth to the Nineteenth Century: Tradition and Digital Representation
The project investigates three Italian-Spanish bilingual thesauri published between 1626 and 1898, examining them both as tools for language learning and as historical records of how everyday knowledge was organised. Using a pilot corpus of approximately 12,000 headwords (Franciosini, Chirchmair and Foulques), the research will analyse core-vocabulary selection, thematic and conceptual structures, paratexts, and contexts of production and circulation. Its methodological aim is to develop a digital model that preserves the onomasiological specificity of these works by integrating TEI Lex-0 encoding, OntoLex-Lemon/SKOS semantic modelling, and network analysis. The prototype will enable exploratory comparisons of the stability and variation of conceptual fields over three centuries and will be integrated into the PRIN 2022 TELEI infrastructure. The project will deliver interoperable data, a semantic graph, and procedures transferable to larger corpora.
